As I said I have two of the dolphins bell and have seen many others and they are all the same. But happy searching. Let us know if you find anything to the contrary

I believe that the hole in the base was formed in the dolphin bell for design and not for the purpose of hanging the bell. I have two dolphin bells, one the same size as yours and the other is 3xs larger with a hole about 2xs larger. The bells are well supported upon their bases, but it would be very difficult to hang them by the holes in the base. I could send you a pic of my bells if you would be interested but it will be a few days before I will be able to.

I have a bell with the outside clapper only the figure is a rearing horse with the chain hanging from the two from hooves which are in the air. Is a light bell and not of value unless you are a collector of horse bells.

wow ! Thanks Carolyn, that took a lot of time and effort to type in all those directions. Now one more thing. I have googled maggie pan and even looked on ebay but could not find anything about how to get one, except one note mentioned that it was no longer available through Harriett Carter. Do you know when I could get one? Many thanks Deb

Thank you for all your responses. They are very helpful. A second part to my question was in general do bell collectors clean their silver bells?
    Thank you Deb

    Dear Lynette
I have been tracking the sale of brass and bronze bells on ebay for the past year. Sadly to say the price of bells is generally down and especially these Sarna Christmas bells. The ones that are most often listed are the 76, 74, and 75 in that order of frequency. Even listed with a starting price of $10.00, they don’t often get a bid. I say this is sad because these are large beautiful brass bells and should be displayed and appreciated. Maybe because of their size and the large area it would take to hold the whole collection keeps people from being interested in them. As far as the sale of the metal bells go, the unusual lady bells and taps bells are bring the higher prices right now. By the way, I am still looking to complete my collection of Sarna Christmas bells.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help or more information.

I tried looking through my 75 and 76 Bell Towers for your bells original price but could not find it. Maybe if you send me a picture I could find it easier. I have Bell Towers from 66 to present so if there is anything I can help you or anyone with I would be glad to look it up. Riverrat72951yahoo.com

    Hi all
This is my first day to be on Belltalk and I have spent hours reading and enjoying the long distance friendship.
Peter, I don’t know if you are still interested in the 1985 and 1989 Christmas bells but here it is any way.
The 1985 bell has the base as the happy face of a clown with a large nose and a ruffle around his neck, the back says 1989 Merry Christmas, the handle is about 6″ with a ball on top.
The 1989 bell has a sculptured edge, says Merry Christmas written in red across the middle and has holly leaves and berries around the base. The year is in a red heart.
I have 17 of this series and have heard that it goes up to at least 1996 but I am not sure if this is true. I know it goes to 1993 as I have one. If you would like pictures I would be glad to email them to you. They are each very different and beautiful bells if you like large bells. 😀
In case anyone can help me I still need 84, 86,92,94,95,and 95. My email is riverrat72952@yahoo.com.
    Hope this helps
    Deb (Brassbell416)
