A reason for no responses to your questions may be because many of our members have been attending the annual convention of the American Bell Association this week and have not have had access to the forum.

If you haven’t already done so, you may want to do a search for “repairing clappers” or “painting steel bells” or “steel bells” on this forum (upper right corner of this page).

Please keep in mind that this is a public forum and any information posted here is the opinion of the poster based on his or her personal experiences and/or research. Responses on the ‘Bell Talk’ Forum do not represent official information from the American Bell Association International, Inc.

Having said that, we are very appreciative for the participation on the Forum from everyone, whether or not they are a member of the ABA.

Presuming that you have spent time reading our Forum members’ comments about steel bells and have been unsuccessful at finding any help from us, I suggest you go to http://www.Railroadiana.org and see if you have any luck on their page: http://www.railroadiana.org/info/pgCleaningAndRestoration.php.

American LaFrance, who made fire engine bells, has gone out of business but you may be able to find other fire engine bell makers online that could help you. Of course, you can always call the non-emergency number of your local fire department and inquire who they could recommend to help you.

      Good luck!
