We have a church bell that is a Naylor Vickers steel bell . Cast in 1860. It is 29 inches high and 36 inches across the bottom. The bell wheel is 5′ 6″ in diameter. What do you think this bell might weigh?

Based on known weights of other Naylor Vickers bells of similar size, the bare bell probably weighs between 700 and 760 pounds. Steel bells tend to be thinner than bronze bells of similar size, and steel is also less dense than bronze.

Thanks so much. We were thinking it would weigh that much, but were not sure. It has a beautiful sound.
