      Ken in Minnesota asks:

Back in the 1960’s I served on the USS Albacore (AGSS-569) at the shipyard in southern Maine. I obtained a bell – solid brass 13 inches high with the number “990-11” on it. Can you tell me anything about the history of this bell? Thanks. Ken

If you can help, please post a response.

A picture would be helpfull. The number could represent the manufacturer’s serial number. The -11 could mean that it was cast in 1911.
