I have a bell from my grandfather’s farm in SE Ohio. It has “Trade Mark Silver 2 Steel” in a diamond shape on the bell and on the piece that suspend it “W C Downey & CO” on one side and “Springfield O” on the other piece. My family had this farm from 1833. Thank you . Elaine
I’m presuming she would life information about the maker. If you can help, please post a response.

Elaine, because you said this came from a farm, I assume it is dinner bell size, between 12″ and 18″ in diameter at the mouth. I have never heard of the W. C. Downey & Co firm, and I have been collecting large bells and information on the firms which made them for about 30 years, so I have to assume this firm didn’t make very many bells. — Neil Goeppinger
