Does anyone recognize this figural bronze bell? It is heavy and well made with decent sound. The (crude or just modern???) style makes me wonder if it is suppose to copy some non-bell work of modern art but I do not recognize it. The patina is artificial and skillfully highlights the facial features while appearing randomly blotchy over the rest of the bell.
I do not recognize it, but I do like it. I would say modern minimalist design, not crude. The “S” shape pose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribhanga) is very graceful. If I had to guess, I would think the source would be Santa Fe or somewhere in the Southwest. What is the height? Could you post a picture of the interior?
I think it was the S curve and the face that made me want it. I’m not sure what inside feature you were looking for and it is dark in there but I hope this images works. The image is less than clear but the head is hollow. 4 1/2″ tall 1 3/4″ at base
Thanks. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular and the photo did not tell me anything in particular. I was curious about the size, what the clapper looked like, how it was attached, if the interior had been left rough or had been polished, if patina had been applied to the interior, any indication of the type of casting, etc.
