      Hi,

Bought this bell at an auction but i cant seem to identify what type of bell it is.

the base of the bell is 14″ and the yoke is 29″ long. The bell is cast iron. I have looked at a lot of

images of bells but i cant find one with this shape and a straight yoke.If anyone could help i would appreciate it

      Thanks,
      John

While I’ve never seen a bell that shape, and thus cannot identify its maker, I can tell you that the straight yoke and the lever arm for ringing both indicate that this is quite old (19th c.) and fairly primitive. It is possible that this was a “one off” effort by a small iron foundry somewhere, and not something that was in regular production for retail sale.

Its quite old. Maybe a small school bell or farm bell. Very unusual and cute bell.
