      Sorry for my ignorance.

I was given a C.S. Bell No.1, and have mounted it using the typical bell upright.

My question is in regards to attaching the bell to the yoke. Should it be wrenched down tightly, or should it be a little loose to help it ring better?

      Hello jeffhurl

I have moved your post to this “Large Bells” forum as I think it will be more easily seen here by those who are knowledgable in this matter

Tight. Eliminate any slop to avoid undue stress on the top of the bell.
The yoke and bowl should swing as one piece.
Any diminishing of the resonance will be very minor, especially in such a small bell which has a notoriously muted ring from the start.
      enjoy
