Hello Abby, I’m sorry it has taken so long for someone to answer your inquiry. I don’t know the diameter of your bell, but if it is between 12″ and 18″ in diameter, it is a farm (also called a “dinner”) bell. To clean it, disassemble it, have it sand blasted, then primer and paint it right away as rusting will start very quickly once it is down to bare metal. I’d go to a good quality paint specialty store (Sherwin Williams type of store) and tell them what you’re doing and get their best paint for outdoor steel. Use a brush, not arisol cans.

For the current cost of a similar bell, go to bells@prindlestation.com

They bought the molds and other bell making equipment from the C. S. Bell Co. They are in Washougal, WA. I don’t know if they post current prices, but they would have a phone number to call if they don’t post them. — Neil
