I recently came across a small porcelin Lugene’s bell while helping clean out a deceased relative’s house. It’s a collectible state bell, Iowa being the state, and I decided to keep it since I formerly lived in Iowa for a couple years. Anyway, I believe it’s a misprint or mistake of some kind. It says “IOWA” across the top of the bell, with a picture of the gold-domed capital bulidng. Below that it says “Des Moines” and below that it says “THE BUCKEYE STATE”. I am fairly certain Iowa is the Hawkeye State, not the Buckeye State. I tried researching this online, but can’t find any information about Lugene’s collectible state bells, bell misprints, or anything. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I’m an Iowan too, and Yes, we are the Hawkeye State. Sounds to me as if an Ohio bell got mis-labeled…or the factory rep THOUGHT he was doing an order for “the Buckeye State”.
