I bought this bell at an estate sale recently and would like to recieve some more information on it.
I was told it was bought in England at an antique store but know little more.
The bell looks to have a hand on it i wonder if that has any significance.
Any information on this bell would be appreciated.

This is an attractive bell. It appears to be silverplated bronze. It is typical of a table call bell. I have no information on the manufacturer, but guess that it was manufactured for sale via a Department Store or Jewelry Store. It probably dates to the Victorian era or early 20th century.

The raised hand holding a wreath is a symbol of the Olympic Games. The ‘modern’ Olympic games were organized in 1894 with the first one running in 1896. So your bell cannot be older than 1896. From the style and form, I’d suggest you have a souvenir Olympic Bell from the mid 1900’s time. At a guess, it would likely be the 1960’s (Italy) games (the bell looks slightly Italian in design).

      Here’s a site with the dates: http://www.kiat.net/olympics/history/index.html

In case you want to research further, I’d do searches on Olympic game souvenirs for each date to see what turns up.

Does the paper tag give any further information? Any markings visible on it?
