      Hello!
I recently acquired this interesting small bell with two wheels fastened to the handle. Does anyone recognize this type of bell or the function of the wheels ? Its 5″ hight and 2 1/2″ in diameter, with the marking “Hunt’s Patent, 1845.” Thanks! [attachment=0:2q52sek9]bell 002.jpg[/attachment:2q52sek9]

I think the top part with the wheels is a knife sharpener. Someone (maybe Ri– Wa—-) either identified it in a mystery bell session or someone (maybe Fl

) had one on display at an ABA function once. Not sure if it had the same manufacturer identification.

Thanks for youir reply! I was wondering if the device on top was a knife sharpener also. I actually tried it with a carving knife and it seemed to do a decent job. I suppose others would hear when one was sharpening a knife, but I wonder why they would want to know!
