Attached is a picture of the bell of Royal Canadian Navy submarine Okanagan. It is interesting to see names of christenings engraved in the bell’s undercut (inside) rather than on the bell’s curve (outside). To so engrave makes sense, as submarine bells are smaller than, say, frigate bells. A foundry that casts bells for the Royal Navy advised that “CHC 303″ bells cast for submarines are 8″ diametre, versus the surface ship Pattern 10A bell of 12 3/4”.
