I am new to this forum and will greatly appreciate any help you may be able to offer. I have a farm bell that has been in my family for over 150 years. It is in rough shape and needs to be restored. I live in MD, outside Washington, D.C., and am hoping this forum can help me locate someone who can restore it. Many thanks in advance!
If you google “sand blasting” and your zip code you will find some local sand blasters.
They have multiple types of media they can use to remove the rust without the metal.
It doesn’t cost much.
I have seen the results of dry Ice blasting, walnut shell blasting, glass bead blasting, and sand blasting. They all do wonderful things to old rusty metal.
One more great reason to use a media blaster – time.
In San Diego the turn around is rarely more than a day. The actual work time is about 30 minutes.
