Do any of you know of someone who can restore a set of bronze Taylor handbells (ca. 1870)? The castings are in excellent condition, but the leather handles and clappers are showing their age. We’re hoping to find a restorer who knows how to restore both to their original form, including the stamps on the leather discs. We also would like to avoid having to ship them back to the manufacturer in England.

      Thanks,
      Larry Sue

      Larry Sue,

I can’t recommend anyone to restore your Taylor handbells but if you do an Internet search for “Handbell handle restorers”, you’ll find a list of places who do that kind of work.

Another idea is to contact the directors of handbell ringers in your area and ask if they can recommend anyone.

      Good luck!

      Carolyn
