      Robert C. in Arkansas asks:

      I was given a toller for a 22″ bell today. Can you or anyone tell me if most bells had them,
      or were they special order.

      I think they were fairly standard on bells that were sold for church use. Certainly the C.S.Bell catalogs show that they were regularly supplied, and I’ve found that they are common equipment on bronze bells from the major American foundries of the late 19th & early 20th centuries. But they were not universally supplied, so it is probable that some manufacturers included them only on request of the customer.
