      Lenore Hammond – Diamond Jubilee

celebrating her first 60 years of membership in A.B.A.
as honored at the 16 Sept 2012 HOAC Chapter meeting.

In 1952, Lenore Peters, then residing in Chicago, joined A.B.A. when the membership dues
were $1.50 and there were 125 members. Her ‘reward’ for joining was her appointment as
chairman of the 1953 convention in Chicago.

In 1968, Lenore Hammond served as A.B.A. President at the Niagara Falls convention.
Her husband, Curtis Hammond, served as A.B.A. President at the 1972 Vancouver convention.

Lenore and Curtis moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, in the 1970s and installed many of their bells
at a bell museum which they operated for over 30 years. Many current members can trace their
interest in bells and knowledge of A.B.A. to a visit at their museum.
