      Hello,

Could someone please let me know what type of bell this is and where it is from?

The inscription reads E Biron A Paris. I checked with shipindex.org and they stated the words may be the foundry information. I checked and found nothing. I’m at a loss.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The bell is 9″ in diameter.

Please see pictures and ask any questions.

      Thanks

      Ric

      First Welcome Ric!

Unfortunately you have caught me mid move so I am more focused on that right now. But if I get time, I’ll try and help!

Do you know what the bell is made of? It looks like iron but the patina shows it may have copper in it. (Does a magnet stick to it for example?) The type of material gives an indication of where it might have been used. Brass is more typical of salt water areas for example (ie boats).

Do you have any photos of the inside, particularly of the clapper? That also provides clues.

9″ in diameter and design suggests it is a utility bell of some sort but I don’t want to go past that till you post some additional information!

      Thanks
      Garry
