Please help me identify this bell. The bell is small it measures around 4″-4.5″ tall. it is made of brass or copper including the clapper. Any help would be much appreciated. Kris

The bell looks like it is solid brass and has some age.
If anyone has any info that can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Kris

Does anyone have any ideas about the age or where this bell might have originated. Thanks for any help in advance. Kris

      Kris,

Can you get a closeup of the top of the bell (is it a rose?)
and one of the shields around the skirt?

Do you have any history of where it was obtained?

Also are there any markings on the inside of the bell (ie near the dome top?)

I have some ideas, but need to research the above information to see if they pan out.

      Thanks
      Garry

If you go to viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2982&p=5875&hilit=Reed+%26+Barton+Catalog#p5875, you will find a page from the 1885 Reed & Barton catalog of bells that were silver and gold plate. Your bell is the 15th picture down the page. It is identified as No. 070, Pear Shape, $5.50 per dozen. Most likely, it was silver plated, not gold plated. So, I think it would be safe to assume your bell is older than 125 years.

To learn more about Reed & Barton Silversmiths, please read the particle at viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2981&p=5873&hilit=Reed+%26+Barton+Catalog#p5873.

      Carolyn
