      Hi there,
I need help. I’ve owned this bell for over 20 yrs and always wondered the history behind it. I live in California and assume it’s from one of our Mission’s. I have scoured the internet but, have yet to find one like it. Will somebody please help me??? Thanks in advance, Kirk P.S. The bell is 5″1/2 high and 5″1/2 skirt.

This is a beautiful Sacristy Bell. The Bell design appears to be Russian. I know nothing more about it.

Thank you so much for the info, boy was I way off. I’m looking to sell my bell and have yet to find a similar bell with a price to compare with. I must say I’ve had a lot of fun in my search for answers and learned a lot about bells, just not my bell. I’m having trouble with a reasonable asking price and don’t want to be as “way off” as I was on the type. If I may ask, in your opinion, what would a fair asking price be? If anybody else reads this and can help me I would appreciate your opinion as well.

      Thanks in advance,
      Kirk Miles

kirkmiles, The bell and bracket are quite nice but it is not of California mission style. Hjlong has it correct. The head of the crowned person with the flowing robe is ont typical of Franciscan design. The bell seems to be grey in color, white bronze or pueter indication a much later date than the California mission era ending in about 1840. You have a nice bell enjoy it.
