My grandfather found this bell in a barn on a property he bought. And was wondering any history and what it may be worth. Any help would be great.
The bell is Brass 16.5 Tall , 16 wide, 50 inch diameter. It has Prime Milw on the clapper and a number we could barely make out 8R198C or 8R18G, or it could start with BR was really hard to tell. I have some images i will place on here.

I think you mean 50 inches circumference. It’s a locomotive bell minus the mounting hardware (yoke & cradle). Milw might stand for Milwaukee. Other contributors more learned in this field can probably add info. A nice find, perhaps the missing hardware is still in the barn.

The Yolk is missing. It’s not in the barn. But i would still like some help with info on this bell. It weighs about 127 pounds. Just have gotten no responses and my grandfather is driving me crazy for info on the bell. And i can’t find anything really close to it on the internet.

There’s no way of knowing which particular locomotive your bell was part of. If you are interested in selling, list it on eBay starting at $100. In a week you will know what it is worth.
