I have three old Muffin Bells. I recently bought a 5″ and compared to my others it looks like a repro. The “guts”, hammer , etc. are bronze and the return spring is flat metal attached with two phillps head screws, not a coiled wire type spring. How can I tell an old from a repro Muffin Bell?
If you can help, please post a response.

The original muffin bells are extremely well made and all parts fit together symetrically. The reproductions that I have seen do not have the quality workmanship of the originals. The older bells have darkened handles due to age and the reproductions have a brown stained oak handle.
