      Here’s another interesting bell.

A combination of iron (the fish & clapper) and brass (the bell).
Almost 2″ in diameter and 3 3/4″ high.
      A solidly built bell.

My research has turned up artwork that seems to indicate this creature most commonly called a dolphin but a very old style of drawing it is!

I am thinking it’s English but wouldn’t be surprised at Chinese. I have seen old drawings like this in both areas of the world.

If you can shed more light, that would be nice!

I believe that these were made by the N. N. Hill Bell Company of East Hampton, CT in the late 1800s. My Grandfather bought a bunch of N. N. Hill moulds about 50 years ago and I remember the dolphins and the bells. They were made of cast Brass and chrome or nickel plated.

      Thanks Harry!

I’ll keep this with the bell. Is the mold still around do you know?

My grandfatehr broke up the mold and attached the dolphins to other bells.
