I was in the mood to learn today. I have a dinner bell, been in my family for a very long time from what i was told, it was originally at the house my grandmother grew up in. Then it made its way to the house they lived in for the last 50 years. I now own this house and i know the bell has been hung for at least 20 years. I know nothing about it. I have done some research and learned a lil bit. I couldnt find a date on the bell. All i know is it says The C.S. Bell Company 2 Hillsboro O. It says something around the bottom of the brace/yoke but i cant read it. I want to know the best treatment for the bell, can i sandblast it? or just leave it as is and just repaint it. I dont want to hurt the bell at all. Thank you for you understanding and help. I did attach some pictures
If you go to viewforum.php?f=16, Repair, Restoration, Parts, Cleaning, you may find several postings that could help you. I’m sure others will chime in (trite pun) with suggestions, too. Also, there is a lot of information on our website about C.S. Bell Co. bells. Unfortunately, our search engine doesn’t work with a search for C.S. Bell Co. because all the words are too common! But, if you look under “Bell Foundries, Manufacturers, and Artisans,” viewforum.php?f=5, you will find a lot about the C.S. Bell Company.
