Hello, I’m a former member, school bells and horse bells, have sold part of my collection, have some nice examples left. I want to find someone who will buy a doorbell (a marriage of two parts) and sell me a small, oval brass nut to hold the handle on for a small antique school bell. The doorbell: bell is slightly too small, brass, labeled “Taylor Patent, Oct. 23, 1860″, diameter measures 5″. The cast iron mechanism part diameter is 5 1/2”. Porcellian knob on the turn handle. Good condition. thank you. dick dennison

I have asked Dick to send or post pictures of the bell he wants to sell and the bell that needs the part.

If you can help, please post a response. If you need help posting, please contact me at coordinator@americanbell.org. Please be sure to reference this post as from “Richard in New York” if you are going to send information to me. Thanks

Yes, hard to visualize the ‘oval nut’ needed. A picture would help.

Blake Vellau produced a handbell several years ago and may have this piece of hardware in his parts box. I do not have his address handy to copy him, but someone else might be able to forward this request.

Isn’t the thread diameter and pitch rather critical for any “nut”? —as well as a picture to descibe an “oval” nut ??
