I recently was given a family bell, I believe it is a farm bell. It says W. Buckley New York 1838, however when searching for information about this bell I have not been able to find any info about this bell company or this bell. I would like to try and figure out what it is made from so that I can properly care for it. Has anyone heard of this type of bell, if not could someone point me in a direction to research it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

William Buckley was located at 114 Cannon, New York, NY in 1840 and 1841. Your bell dated 1838 expands by two years the period we now know he was in business. Thanks. We know little about his foundry. Perhaps a search of New York City historical records would turn something up. I searched Zells U. S. Business Directories through the N.Y. State Historical Society. — Neil Goeppinger
