    found in south florida while metal detecting a backyard of a 1940s house. roughly 6 inches deep next to a large mango tree. The rattle is magnetic but the bell is not. The reverse is held with a cotter pin. I cannot find any info on the lettering on them, it looks like it says “No 0”. Any info or hints in the right direction is appreciated. i believe i have 8 in total, some were missing cotter pins and were actually a few feet away from the part shown in my pictures.

    nevermind. i found the info i needed. number 0 is 1 inch and they are sleigh bells. pretty strange find being in Florida

    Excellent. You are correct, these are also called croatal bells. They are of an early form, from the design.
