These so-called animal bells are usually inexpensive but nevertheless interesting bell collector items. The older ones are very often hand-painted showing highlights of the region where they come from and carried away by visitors as a nice souvenir. I have about 30 different bells of this kind in my collection and I wonder if there are others in our ABA community specialized in this type of bells (old, hand-painted – not the new ones with labels instead of paint).

Hopefully someone can come forward with hints on literature, photos or a private catalogue covering this – which I think is an interesting side line of our bell collecting activity.

The bell presented here is a souvenir from Tirol / Austria showing the landscape around IMST.
