Glenn in Tennessee sends a sad story and asks for our help:
I live in Lebanon, TN. On July 5th a very large white oak tree fell on my house. This tree was 18’3″ in circumference, and it caused quite a bit of damage to the house. The house is being repaired. The dinner bell that has been standing there ever since I can remember (I am 51) was broken into several pieces. The part that is attached to the pole is still in good shape, but the bell and the other parts are in many pieces. This house was my grandparents and my wife and I were lucky enough to be able to buy it several years ago. The bell is a American Casting Company Birmingham Alabama number 3. I have searched for one to purchase to replace the one the tree fell on, but without success. I have 2 questions. Where could I possibly find a replacement bell and what would be the value of it? My insurance company is very cooperative, and will pay to replace this bell. I just need to find one for a fair price. If anyone has any leads I would very much appreciate it. I cannot find very much information about the American Casting Company and would appreciate any information you may provide. Thank you, Glenn
If you can help, please post a response.

I did find a American Castings bell in Michigan and have gotten it home. It seems that these bells are pretty hard to come by, and I think that I was lucky to be able to find one. It worked out well since the yoke that was on my old one was not broken, but the yoke for the one I found was. Now I have a complete bell like the one that got broken when the tree fell on it. Would you please let him know how much I appreciate him responding to the posting. Thank you again for helping me out on this.
