My wife has been trying to register here but, so far, hasn’t been successful. So, she asked me to post this question.
Is there a list of all ABA national conventions that offered bells? And, is there a description of the bells offered at those conventions. Note: I said “bells” plural because some conventions offered more than one bell. She is trying to acquire a complete collection and, of course, this is impossible without knowing what was offered.
BTW, if somone has this information, it would make a valuable contribution to Bell Tower magazine.

      Dear Frank,

Please have your wife contact me at coordinator@americanbell.org and let me know what messages she is getting when she tries to register. One thought comes to mind, however. If she is using the same e-mail address that you are using, she is probably getting a message saying that e-mail address is already in use. If she wants her own e-mail address, probably a gmail or yahoo address would be her best bet.

Now, regarding the convention bells, I have had the same thought but have not gotten around to making such a list (the website keeps me pretty busy, as you know). I believe there is an old Bell Tower supplement from the 1980s that lists the convention bells. Needless to say, it needs to be updated. Information about the convention bells is usually given in the January-February issue of the Bell Tower along with the announcement of convention information.

      Good luck!
      Carolyn

Thanks, Carolyn. I have sent her the link to your post. She uses a different e-mail than mine. I don’t know what messages she is getting.

There is a Bell Tower supplement from latter part of 1980 titled Souvenir Bells of the ABA Conventions 1945 – 1980 by Becky Mayer.
Also in the Jan-Feb issue of the Bell Tower page 25 – 32 is the article ” ABA Convention Bells” that covers from 1948 to 2000. This one is by Kathryn Stafford. This one is complete with pictures.

Wade, which year issue are you referring to? It is not the 2008 Jan-Feb.
      Thanks, Frank

      Dear Frank,

If you go to The Directory of Articles from The Bell Tower on the main site
( https://www.americanbell.org/files/080424_belltower_index.pdf ) and scroll down to “Convention Bells,” you will see that the article to which Wade refers is in the Jan-Feb 2002 issue on page 25.

As a reminder to you and others, the Directory now has The Bell Tower articles from 1978 to 2007 listed. The articles from 2008 are listed on the “Bell Talk” Forum at viewforum.php?f=27

      Carolyn
