Hello ~ I’m looking for information about a bell that I have. What I really need is what the approximate value of this bell is. The bell was made by Jones & Co., of Troy N.Y. The date on the bell is 1869. The bell is 18″ high, and measures 21″ across the bottom, it is in good shape, and is mounted on it’s original stand. This bell, and it’s stand are in tact. Anyone have a guess at it’s value?

      Many thanks !! Kurt

      Hi Kurt
Living in the UK means I’m not your best bet for advice!
It would help if you could post a picture of the bell or provide a link to a picture on a photo hosting site. I don’t know if you know anything about the founder. Do a google search on ‘The Bell casters of Troy’ and you will find an article by Sydney Ross which provides information of interest. Jones & Co produced high quality bells. A foundry would charge a lot today for a bell of 21 inches diameter. There is no ‘value’ for a bell like that which you could predict with any certainty. Have you thought about contacting Brossamer Bells for a chat? They may at least give you some idea.

      Regards

      Peter

      Hi Kurt

It is Brosamer Bells I meant. I see they won’t do phone calls and require a photo and $75 for an appraisal. You may have other options. Depends how determined you are to get a valuation! Be interested to hear the outcome of your research.

      Regards
