Can we get a view of the inside?
We can’t tell from this one view, but I suspect, (only suspect at this moment) that this is a cap or cover and not a bell. The reasons? Firstly there are two Mounting lugs at the bottom, these would interfere with the resonance of the ring if anything was actually attached to them. But they make perfect sense if it’s to be bolted down on something as a cap. Secondly, I see no ‘hanging’ point on the top, it’s more of a decorative finial up there.
But with more info we might be able to be more definitive.

I really appreciate your reply. I have attached two more pics with the lettering. These three pos total is all that I have at the moment. I was never sure it was a bell or not, hence the posting. I pointed out the two lugs at the bottom to my brother, but he said maybe it was some sort of buoy bell that would be bolted to the buoy so it would ring with the movement of the waves. Maybe the letters stamped will shed some light.

It’s a nice thought of his, but no. As an aside, notice the green patina in the grooves. This is indicative of Bronze aging (from the copper content, Bronze is Copper + Tin).
What you have is the base of an old “A.B. Aronsson & Soner” armillary Sphere (you missed the “&” symbol). The other side of it will likely say “made in sweden”.
As an example, with some details and a photograph, check out this website:
Nice find, but not a bell!
(it’s odd, but my browser shows the correct ‘name’ for the uploaded file and when I click on it I see the sphere, but the preview shows your photograph for some reason. I’ll alert the web site manager on that one! click the link and you will see mine. Garry)
Have a great day.

Great discovery, Garry! I clicked on your picture attachment 8346891_object.jpg posted today, June 20th, and saw the picture of this object as the base holder of a sphere with an arrow through it and what may be a wooden base. Fascinating! For anyone interested in seeing Garry’s picture, just click on the 8346891_object.jpg link in Garry’s or my posting.
