Can anyone supply information as to date and place for this desk set with bell? Under the deer head is a leg and what appears to be a rope loop with rounded end (what is it?). Above the striker is a horseshoe and cap. The bell is rung with an outside striker (term?). While the deer leg pen was with the bell when we got it, I believe it is not original to the bell and any separate information on it is also appreciated. One of the inkwells has black ink residue suggesting it was once used but not necessarily with this pen. The pen grip and hoof finial appear to be bakelite or other early plastic while the shaft is wrapped in deer fur. Oddly, there is a small loop on top of the deer head making me wonder if the piece was cobbled together from parts intended for other uses?
