I have a bell from Freedom Town Bell Company. The bell is about 22′ and a #5 cast iron. Anyone know anything regarding the manufacturer? Does the bell have any value? The yoke is missing, but the bell is in good condition. It has a few casting pits, but other wise is in good condition.

It’s probably a long shot but I did find a Freedom Bell Company in Caribou, Maine, listed on the “Made in Maine” website: http://www.mainemade.com/members/profile.asp?ID=815. There is an address and telephone number listed on this page. You might want to contact them and ask if the company ever made bells. Apparently they don’t have their own website or an e-mail address. This company makes metal items but bells is not listed as something they currently make.
Thanks Carolyn. I will visit the site.
I’m just taking a shot here. Please check to see if the bell actually reads either “Frederick Town Bell Co” or “Fredricktown”. Please note that these were spelled differently, and were two different firms located in different states. If it is either of those, I have just a little information. — Neil
Neil, you are correct the bell is a Frederick bell. Are they collectable and does the bell have value, remembering the yoke is missing? Boy I must be slipping to miss read Frederick as Freedom.
I don’t have much on the Frederick Town Bell Co, even though I have one of their smaller bells. They were located in Ohio, and the biggest bell I’ve seen by them is 40″ in diameter located in the town square of Panora, Iowa. Their bells were cast iron. — Neil
