Welcome to the ABA! › Bell Talk Forums › Small Bells › fecit benitvs bell
Now here is an interesting looking bell.
Also commemorative, but in Latin I believe, so I am searching to find out what it means.
Inscription appears to say: “fecit benitvs a resibvs” and “ano d 1830”
The image is that of a cross on top of a triangle – possibly representing a cross on a hill.
The clapper is missing, but there is a wire loop inside to hang it from.
Brass construction, 3 inches high by 2.5 inches diameter.
Any idea what it commemorates?
What sort of clapper should be in it?
This is a souvenir bell manufactured by Mrs. A.S.C.Forbes. It is a replica of a California Mission Bell. It is bronze and was probably made in the 1920s or 1930s. Max Kurillo may be able to give you more accurate details.

Thanks for the direction to look Harry!
I’m still amazed by your knowledge of these bells!
Hopefully Max will reply too, with more details.
I’d like to know what clapper to put in it and what the wording means.
