      Hi,

This brass bell has been sitting on the mantelpiece for years, and I haven’t given it much thought until now. I asked my mother about it and she says it belonged to my great great aunt…
So I looked it up and found it to be an evangelical bell, could anyone give me more information about it? Perhaps some advice also on how I can clean it?

The bell is approx. 7 inches in height and 4 and a half inches wide at the opening…
Unfortunately the clapper has become detached, but I’m sure it can be repaired.

Sorry about picture quality, I had to take them with my phone for now.

If you go to viewtopic.php?f=19&t=435&p=785#p785 you will find an article about Apostle, Pelican, Evangelist, and Stork bells.

Does your bell have a hole drilled in the top of the handle? Sometimes this type of bell was attached to a bracket and hung on a wall.
