A couple weeks ago I dedicated an old Davis Rankin 1850″s Fredericktown Farm bell that I restored to the widow of my friend who was gunned down in the country of Haiti while he was in the process of building an orphanage there. The setting of the event took place at my friends house with landscape of a deep ravine and beautiful trees towering overhead. I invited 40 of her close friends and family, and some neighbors who pitched in on the restoration. WBNS 10tv showed up and did a story of my friend and his widow with the bell being the main focus. I never felt so good about doing something as I did restoring and presenting this bell to her. I never owned a bell before, and probably never will again, but this one bell I owned for just a short time gave me so much pleasure. To pass it on the way I did helped me get through and cope with the tragic loss of a friend. Just wanted to share a nice story…BrightRed
Such a wonderful thing, and a bell will last longer than we do….. generations will know what that bell stood for.
Several of us have many bells, and would love to be included in anything like this that occurs again.
BELLS FOR HEROS – I think this is a good idea.
We are the folks that have the bells………
