I found an old Cowbell with the name ostarr with the # 4 on it. I did some research to find out that this bell is very rare and hard to find and that it was made before the Civil War 1830s or so by a guy named Orson Starr here in Michigan, Royal Oaks, Michigan, some of the first settlers to farm the lands, and that he was one of the first Manufacturers in Michigan. He made Bricks and Cowbells. What I would like to know is why the ones I have seen have different numbers on them – a #6 and number 8. Can you tell me what the numbers are for? And is the bell really worth hundreds of dollars like the two that I found? The bell is in very good condition, too. Any information on the bell would be nice. Thank you for your time.
