Hi, I have a Belknap 16 inch diameter brass or bronze bell. It has a holder that is a yoke above the bell and says it is a number 2. Made in Louisville, KY in 1840. I need a replacement clapper including the bolt that goes through the yoke. Please tell me how to get a clapper; anything about the history of this bell; any idea of the value.

Hi I did not know that Belknap made brass or bronze bells. I do know that they were of cast iron alloy. Try a magnet on the bell itself, and if it sticks its iron and if it don’t stick its bronze or brass……you may have a non Belknap bell mounted to a iron Belknap yoke if the bell is brass etc. Its possible this bell could have been a special made bell that someone requested in bronze etc.

Hi You can get a no 2 clapper from Prindle Station . The diameter of you bell would work with this size clapper. Go to on search on internet type in prindle station.
