Does anyone own a Clampitt & Regester bell from mid-1840s to mid-1850s? Clampitt and Regester worked in Baltimore. I have recently seen a bell with the firm’s name, the word “Baltimore”, and the numerals “184” inscribed around the top of the bell. I would have assumed the “184” was a date, but there is no evidence a last numeral was scraped off. Did Clampitt & Regester bells usually have a date on them, or did they number them in some way? Does anyone know if any Clampitt & Regester records survive? Any help greatly appreciated.

      Dear Dean,

If you haven’t already done so, please search for “Clampitt & Regester” in the box at the top right corner of this page. You will find a few postings about these bells. They may not answer your specific questions but there is some interesting information in them. Also, if you put in “Regester”, you’ll find about 15 postings regarding that company.

      Good luck!
