Another imperial Chinese sleeper has awoken in West Sussex. This Chinese gilt bronze temple bell was unknown to the Billingshurst auctioneers who estimated it at £100 to £150. It turned out to be a Qianlong (1736-1795) mark and period bell cast with imperial dragons clasping flaming pearls in its original carved hardwood stand. It sold on the telephone to an anonymous buyer for £400,000 plus 20% buyers premium.
