      Good Afternoon:

A family member of mine recently acquired a large cast iron bell. The bell measures about 27″ in diameter. To my knowledge, the bell has no markings stamped on it. I was hoping that someone could provide any information about this bell: the type of bell, possible manufacturers, era, and a rough estimate of the value of the bell as is.

He took it to a friend who sells antiques and this guy said that it appears to be a McChesney bell, however, I can’t find any information on this manufacturer.

From the shape of the bell and the yoke, I’d say it most likely came from Blymyer, Norton & Co. or its successor, The Cincinnati Bell Foundry Company.
