Pierrette in Florida wants to know the value of her bell. Anyone care to offer an opinion?

I inherited an unusual bell from a friend who died 15 yrs. ago at the age of 85 – Description: A cast iron black bear strumming a mandolin where its body fullness is a round bell with an ornate knob that you turn to make it ring – 6-1/2″ high. It is set on a square opaque marble base 4×4″. I would like to get an idea of the value of this piece. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

If you can help, please post a response. If you need help posting, please contact me at coordinator@americanbell.org. Please be sure to reference this post as from “Pierrette in Florida” if you are going to send information to me. Thanks

Look what I found at Judy Blake’s Shoreham Bell Museum! I still don’t know anything about this black bear bell but the picture is clearer so people might recognize it better. What a beauty, huh?

I’ll check my books when I get a chance.
I remember seeing one like this in them.

I believe it was an ornate desk bell for a high end shop.

Let you know when I find out!

Just letting you know I haven’t forgotten you.

I just have a lot of books to go through to find it. (and so little time!) 🙂
