      It is from Indonesia and is a buffalo bell. If it’s like mine, it was cast in two halves and then brazed together – you should be able to see the join inside the bell. Good hunting!

      I have a string with 6 graduated bells of this design. The shield on mine has SSS and Java indicated that it was made in Java for SS Sarna. It was sold as a water buffalo bell by Sarna. Yours does not appear to have the Sarna name or Java in the shield, but rather a steer head…interesting. It is clearly made by the same manufacturer, but was not sold as a Sarna Bell. It is 1960s vintage.
