      Hello
      Just wondering if anyone can give me some info on this bell.It has no markings or numbers.Was found in a barn in Lancaster PA.The seller of the bell told be it was sitting in the corner of his grandfather’s barn as far back as he could remember.Any help much appreciated.Here are some of the dimensions.
      Top balacer 34 inches
      Cradle bar 34 inches
      Bell height 13 inches
      Width 24 inches
      Clacker length 15 inches
      Circumference of clacker 9 inches

      From the pictures your bell does not look like it has a 24″ diameter (which would be a school bell). It looks like a 14″ to 18″ dinner bell. The ridge around the outside of the sound bow indicates that it is fairly old, likely 1860 era or thereabouts. It is, of course, either iron or steel. The foundry name often was on the cradle in which the bell was mounted, but which is not in the pictures. I assume it has been lost or broken and disposed of. — Neil

      After thoughts. The clapper, yoke and shape of the bell also are consistent with an 1860’s era dating. — Neil
