While traveling in Sichuan, China last month, I came across a couple of old church bells. Interestingly, they are still being used by the respective churches, in the cities of Yibin and Ya’an. One bell has on it the following inscription: “Buckeye Bell Foundry, Cincinnati, Ohio. VanDusen and Tift. Presented to First Baptist Church, Coffeyville, Kansas by W.S. Upham, 1886. Praise Ye the Lord. The only thing we could find on the second bell was “Blymeyer Bells, Cincinnati, OH.” No date. I am now beginning research on these bells — trying to find out how they came to be hanging in churches in fairly remote cities in China. If anyone has any information or leads, I would appreciate it.

You can read more about these bells at the following link: http://outside-in.typepad.com/outside_in/2012/03/a-tale-of-two-bells.html

      Thank you.
