BRASS LADY BELL, HOLDING A PARASOL
Seller’s description: “Here we have a very attractive metal table bell with a Lady in Victorian (?) period dress holding a parasol. It is in very good condition with only minor wear from use and is approx 8 in (20 cm) tall.“
My comment: Possibly a marriage but, if so, well executed.
Many lady bells are of the “genre” type, in that they represent a style, but cannot be identified as to a specific person or source which they are intended to portray. Such is not the case with the bell pictured below. The third photo shows a statue in the Barcelona Zoo, entitled La Dama del Paraigua, created for the Universal Exhibition of 1888 by Joan Roig Soler.
