280a – Silver Plate EPNS Table Bell Lady Atkin Brothers Fleur de lis England Vintage
This stunning vintage silver plate / EPNS table bell comes in excellent condition, it has a little manufacturing flaw on the handle and weighs 72g unboxed. It’s stamped with a Fleur de lis, EPNS and another part symbol. It measures approx: 3″ inches (7.7cm) high by 2″ inches (5.2cm) in diameter.
This is a very attractive tea bell, of good quality, that sold at a bargain price.
Note that this seller ships Royal Mail Small Packet Airmail at a reasonable cost to the buyer.
EPNS = Electroplated Nickel Silver.
Some people think this means that the item is plated WITH Nickel Silver.
On the contrary, the plating is Silver, and plated ON a base made of Nickel Silver.
Nickel Silver (typically 60% copper, 20% nickel, 20% zinc) has a shiny appearance similar to Silver.
The advantage on Silver plating over a base of Nickel Silver, as compared to Silver plating on Brass, is that if/as the Silver plating is worn, the under-metal still has a silvery appearance. Nickel Silver casts well, and the bell tone is similar to a brass bell. I have often wondered why more bell founders do not cast in Nickel Silver.

Table Bell – “NOUVEAU TIMBRE JB DIT ELECTRIQUE BREVETÉ” PARIS
light traces of wear

We saw a different and unusual version of this mechanical bell in Part 277b above.
This is the standard version in a rather plain case, should polish nicely, and a bargain price.
280c – FINE ANTIQUE 19THC CHINESE INDIAN BRONZE BUDDHA DEITY FIGURAL CARVED BELL
Up for auction is an Antique Chinese or Indian Bronze Figural Bell. This Bell is a good antique example that I believe would date to the 19th century period. The Bell has an interesting carved designs and features a nice Buddha or Deity Figural Handle. The Bell shows some wear but overall for its age is in fine original condition. The Bell is a great display piece measuring 4 1/8 inches wide and stands 6 3/4 inches tall.
I would think Indian, not Chinese. It is an older item, but still rather crude, as most Indian bells were. Their casting techniques were never up to continental European standards.
280d – Brass Lady Bell Oriental Chinese Japanese India Thai Geisha Dancer Huge Vintage
This stunning vintage brass lady bell comes in excellent condition with original clanger, she weighs 1287g unboxed. The modeling is absolutely superb.
She measures approx: 4.5 inches (11.4cm) long, 9.5″ inches (24.2cm) high by 2.75″ inches (7cm) wide.
Yes, she is uncommon, she is big, she is certainly brassy, her casting details are not all that great,
but two bidders thought she was worth fighting over.
