250a – Antique GORHAM GMCO Silver Plate EP Dinner/Hotel/Servant’s Bell 012 Anchor Mark
Antique GORHAM GMCO Silver Plate EP (Electroplate) Dinner Bell/Hand Bell
Marked 012 with an anchor and what appears to be a clover leaf – 4″ Tall; 2 1/8″ Bottom Diameter
The bell was an estate find and I am unsure of its age, but I believe it is dates to the early 20th century.
There are some tiny shallow indentions in the bell and lines in its handle, which might be the way the item was cast, but the item has no silver loss. Also, note that the bell’s handle is tilted a bit.
The Shamrock Mark identifies it as having been made in 1913.
These silver-plated Gorham tea bells are well worth having, since they were made at a time and by a company that took pride in its work. With restraint, they can be found for sale in the $20 – $30 range.

250c – Edith Cavell Lady Figurine Antique Brass Bronze Bell
Edith Cavell was a British nurse serving in Belgium who was executed by the Germans on a charge of assisting allied prisoners to escape during WW1.
This bell is 7-1/2″ high x 2-5/8″ diam. Weight 1.5Kg.
The bell is in great condition and made approx. 1920s to 1940s.
For more information about Edith Cavell, see Part 100b: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4193&start=119
The Edith Cavell is often one of the tallest in a figurine lady bell collection.
Most were rushed into production as souvenirs shortly after her death, and are relatively low quality.
This particular example is also suffering from the greenish chloride corrosion, often hard to remove.
250d – ANTIQUE NOVELTY, CAST BRASS TOWN CRIER BELL with LEGS for CLAPPERS, RARE ITEM
Antique novelty cast brass bell in the form of a Town Crier with leg shaped clappers.
A hard to find item in good and complete condition.
Size: 4 1/4″ (18 cms) high, 2 5/8″ (6.5 cms) wide at the base
Weight: 18 ozs. (507 grms)
Condition is very good, I have not cleaned it apart from a wipe with a duster.
Many collectors are familiar with this Town Crier bell, but it can be difficult to locate one for sale.
Note the two leg clappers, plus the fully clothed leg protruding in front from the coat.
Whazzup with that???
