Wikipedia: The Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel (“Our Lady of Good Help”) is a church in the district of Old Montreal in Montreal, Quebec. One of the oldest churches in Montreal, it was built in 1771 over the ruins of an earlier chapel.

In the 19th century, the chapel came to be a pilgrimage site for the sailors who arrived in the Old Port of Montreal; they would make offerings to the Virgin in gratitude for her “good help” for safe sea voyages. In 1849, Mgr. Ignace Bourget, Bishop of Montreal, gave the chapel a statue of the Virgin as Star of the Sea, which was placed atop the church overlooking the harbour. Emphasizing the connection of the chapel and the port, the chapel is often called the Sailors’ Church.

236e – ADDENDUM – Regarding which church this represents

Notre Dame de Bon Secours is a Montreal landmark and I have been to that church,
so that is what occured to me as the church that this bell commemorates.

These call bells are thought to have been made in France in the second half of the 19th century.
I assumed that because of the French heritage of Quebec, this bell might have been imported
as a souvenir to a visit of the Notre Dame de Bon Secours Chapel on the Montreal waterfront.

I have had a message from the purchaser of this bell, and he thinks it might commemorate the
Basilique de Notre Dame de Bon Secours in Rouen, France. I was not familiar with this church,
and he could well be correct.

However, a Google search for churches with the same name yielded another 9 in France and 2 in Belgium.
Rouen seems to be the largest, therefore possibly the best candidate, but you can take your pick.
